Medical Careers
Description
An extensive medical program offering instruction in a range of health related careers such as Pharmacy Aide, Central Supply Aide, Laboratory Aide, and Radiology Aide. Clerical preparation includes front office skills: bookkeeping, reception, telephone, insurance records, and patient relations. Administrative procedures and terminology needed to perform paperwork associated with the operation of a medical facility or physician’s office. Instruction stresses patient and insurance records, reception area, typing and bookkeeping. First semester covers:
- Medical Terminology
- Anatomy and physiology
- Vital signs
- Career research and individualized instruction in specific fields
- Second semester provides on-site training in community medical facilities &/or exam preparation to become a California Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA). NOTE: Bus Transportation will NOT be provided to or from community work sites

Medical Occupations Program participates in articulation with Chabot and Las Positas Colleges
Eligibility
High School juniors, seniors and adults
Requirements
High School students must currently be enrolled in a high school in the Castro Valley, Hayward, San Leandro, or San Lorenzo High School.
Adult students must attend a mandatory orientation prior to enrolling the class.

3 hours (daily)
8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
or 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

$50.00 – $100.00 = Physical, TB, Rubella, hepatitis vaccine
