Registered Dental Assisting
Description
An in-depth two-year program prepares students to become Registered Dental Assistants. Training includes chair side, lab, x-ray, RDA examination preparation, and coronal polish. Instruction includes 400 hours of externship in a dental office. Upon completion of this program students will be eligible to take the RDA State Board Examination. The program combines:
- Theory, lab work and on-the-job internships in local dental offices
- Office procedures, management
- Chair side assisting
- X-rays and much more

High School Students:
4 Semesters
3 hours (daily) – 8:00 -11:00 a.m.
or 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Adults:
2 Semesters or 4 quarters
6 hours (Tuesday-Friday) – 8:00 -3:30 p.m.
Credits
San Leandro High, Arroyo High and San Lorenzo High: 1 yr Science credit
Castro Valley High: 1 semester Science credit

Eligibility
High School juniors, seniors and adults
Requirements
Adults must attend a R.O.P. orientation prior to registration.
All students must have a high school diploma or GED prior to completion of the program.

Adult Fees:
$50.00 registration
$400.00 lab fee
$50.00 – $100 – Physical TB, Rubella

Notes
Bus Transportation will NOT be provided to or from community work sites.
